Custom Discounts allow a fixed dollar value or percentage discount to be applied directly to an order on the Direct Ordering Checkout page before submission. This removes the need to create a promo code for one-off discounts used for customer recovery, marketing, or operational adjustments. The discount applies to the order subtotal, and taxes, fees, and the order total recalculate automatically.
Note: Custom Discounts are intended for one-off operational discounts. For recurring promotions or marketing campaigns, set up a promo code instead.
Two discount types are available in the Custom Discount section:

Enabling Custom Discounts for a Brand

How to Apply a Custom Discount
Applying a Custom Discount to an Existing Order
A Custom Discount can also be added or adjusted when editing an existing order, using the same discount entry fields available at checkout. The steps below show how to apply a discount to an existing order.
Note: A Custom Discount can only be added to an order with a Pending, Held, or Open status. Once an order is Closed or Voided, it cannot be edited, and a Custom Discount cannot be applied.
How the Discount Appears in the Order Summary
When a Custom Discount is applied, the Amount Due panel on the right side of the Checkout page updates to reflect the discount and recalculates all downstream totals.
A Custom Discount line appears in the Amount Due panel when a Custom Discount is applied to the order, displaying the discount value.

Example: On a $50.00 subtotal with a $30.00 Custom Discount applied:
- Custom Discount: ($30.00)
- Total before Tax & Tip: $20.00
- Sales Tax: calculated on $20.00 — the discounted subtotal
- Total: the discounted subtotal plus recalculated tax
Note: The Custom Discount applies at the order level — not to individual line items. Tax is calculated on the transaction value after the discount is applied to the order.
