Direct Ordering (DO) allows restaurant operators to add Guest users while placing orders—without requiring a password or creating a full Customer account. This streamlines the ordering process for one-time or infrequent customers while ensuring their orders remain linked to a valid email address.
Benefits of Guest User Creation
- Speeds up order entry for one-time or occasional customers
- Removes the need for customers to set up a full account
- Keeps order history tied to the customer’s email for easy tracking
- Offers flexibility to upgrade a Guest to a full Customer later
- Simplifies order management for operators—no login or password required
How to Place an Order for a Guest
Follow the steps below to place an order for a Guest:
Note: Guests will not have login access. Their orders are tracked using their email address.
Guest vs. Customer: What’s the Difference?
| Feature | Guest | Customer |
|---|---|---|
| Login access | No | Yes |
| Password required | No | Yes |
| Order tracking | By email | By email |
| Shown in the customer database | Yes | Yes |
| Can be upgraded later | Yes | Already a Customer |
If an Email Is Already in Use
If the email you enter already belongs to a Customer account:
- You’ll see a message saying a Customer account with this email exists
- You can link to the existing Customer account, as using the same email for multiple profiles may create confusion
