Brands using Direct Ordering can add promotional or instructional videos to their Guest or Account pages. This article covers the video requirements, hosting instructions, and how to embed the video using the Direct Ordering Admin Panel.
Step 1: Prepare the Video
Supported file types:
- .mp4 (recommended)
- .mov
Video size guidelines:
| Orientation | Resolution | Aspect Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Horizontal | 1920×1080 or 1280×720 px | 16:9 |
| Vertical | 1080×1920 or 720×1280 px | 9:16 |
Maximum file size: 20MB
Video design guidelines:
- Avoid placing text in the video, as it may be cropped on smaller screens.
- If using text, keep it minimal (a title or a few keywords), center it both horizontally and vertically, and place key content in the central 70 to 80 percent of the screen so it remains visible across all devices.
Step 2: Host the Video Online
Dropbox is recommended for ease of embedding.
- Go to dropbox.com and log in.
- Upload the video file. Dropbox provides instructions on how to upload a file.
- After the upload, click Copy Link to get the link for the newly uploaded video.
- The link looks like: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/abc123xyz456/YourVideo.mp4?dl=0
Step 3: Create an Embeddable Link
To make the Dropbox link embeddable:
- Replace "www.dropbox.com" with "dl.dropboxusercontent.com".
- Remove "?dl=0" or "&dl=0" from the end.
Example:
- Original link: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/abc123xyz456/YourVideo.mp4?rlkey=abcdefg123456&dl=0
- Embeddable link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/scl/fi/abc123xyz456/YourVideo.mp4?rlkey=abcdefg123456
Note: Other hosting platforms can be used, as long as they can generate a public, embeddable link to an .mp4 file.
Step 4: Embed the Video in the Guest or Account Page
Follow the steps below to add the video to the page:
