Direct Ordering aims to reduce barriers to customer checkout. Customers can quickly reorder their favorite menu items and reorder past orders. This article explains the additional menu feature tiles available, how to enable Favorites, how customers favorite and experience items, and how customers reorder a past order.
Additional Menu Features for the Customer-Facing Menu
Most menu tiles are linked directly to a restaurant's Menu Categories and can only be changed within the Checkmate portal. In addition, a restaurant can add menu feature tiles within Direct Ordering so they appear on the customer's Menu page. These easy-access tiles help customers locate their favorite menu items more quickly.
Enabling Favorites on Desktop and Mobile Web Ordering
- Open the Direct Ordering Admin Panel.
- Go to Pages > Menu.
- Scroll down to two sections: Optional Sections on Desktop (settings for menu feature display on Desktop Web Ordering) and Optional Sections on Mobile (settings for menu feature display on Mobile Web Ordering).
- Drag and drop any combination of menu features from the Hidden column to the Displayed column, or vice versa. Menu features in the Displayed column appear on the customer-facing Web Ordering as individual tiles at the top of the Menu page, so they are the first thing the customer sees.
- Click Submit to save the changes.
How a Customer Favorites a Menu Item
Once this feature is activated, a customer can favorite as many menu items as they want:
- The customer logs in to the online ordering website. Favorites are associated with unique customer email addresses, so the customer must be logged in to save a favorite to their account.
- The customer locates a menu item and clicks the heart symbol to favorite it. Clicking the heart again removes the favorite.
- Once items are favorited, the customer can click the Favorites tile on the main menu ordering page to see all previously favorited items.
