Direct Ordering supports several ways for customers to place an order, along with several order types a restaurant can offer. This article explains the ordering methods available to customers, the order types that can be enabled, how to set which order types appear, and how to limit service types for individual locations.
Ways Customers Can Place Orders
Customers can place orders through any of the following methods:
- Desktop web ordering: Ordering from a computer browser.
- Mobile web ordering: Ordering from a mobile browser.
- Mobile app ordering: Ordering from the Direct Ordering mobile app.
Available Order Types
The following order types can be enabled for customers ordering digitally:
- Walk-in
- Pick-up
- Delivery
- Group Ordering
- Outpost
- Catering
- Gift Cards
- Donations
Establishing the Order Types Available at a Restaurant
To control the order types a customer can choose from when ordering digitally through Direct Ordering (web or mobile app), follow these steps:
- In the Direct Ordering Admin Panel, go to Settings (gear icon).
- In the User Experience section, select Order Types.
- Drag and drop the desired order types into either the Hidden or Displayed column.
- Click Submit to save the changes.
Limiting the Service Types Available at a Location
To offer specific order types at one or more individual locations (such as Dine-In/Walk-in, Pick-up, or Delivery), set the options at each Store and its Revenue Center. At the Revenue Center level, these options are labeled Service Types.
For example, a brand may want to offer delivery at one location but not yet at its other locations. In that case, Delivery stays available at the brand level through Order Types, while Dine-In and Pick-up are enabled only at that Store's Revenue Center. The walkthrough below shows Pick-up set as the only Service Type available for a single Store's Revenue Center:
How Customers Experience the Order Types List
When customers begin an order, the enabled order types appear as selectable options, as shown below:
