This article explains how guests use Direct Ordering (DO) Digital Gift Cards when ordering in-store, over the phone, or at the drive-thru. Direct Ordering Digital Gift Cards can be used at a location as long as the brand is set up with:
- Direct Ordering Online Ordering (App or Web)
- Direct Ordering Digital Gift Cards
- Toast POS with the Direct Ordering Digital Gift Card integration enabled
How Guests Use Their Digital Gift Cards
In-Store Orders
At checkout:
- The guest opens the Direct Ordering brand app or website on their phone and logs into their account.
- The guest navigates to Menu > Gift Cards.
- The guest shows one of the following:
- A QR code to scan, or
- The gift card number.
- On the Toast POS:
- Tap the Gift Card button.
- Either scan the QR code with the scanner or manually enter the gift card number.
- The gift card balance is applied to the total.
Phone Orders and Drive-Thru Orders
During checkout:
- The guest opens the Direct Ordering brand app or website and logs into their account.
- The guest navigates to Menu > Gift Cards.
- The guest reads the gift card number aloud over the phone or at the drive-thru window.
- On the Toast POS:
- Tap the Gift Card button.
- Manually enter the gift card number.
- The gift card balance is applied to the total.
Additional Information
- Only Direct Ordering Digital Gift Cards can be used with this process. Physical gift cards and other gift card systems are not supported.
- The guest must log in to their account to access their gift card information.
- If scanning fails, the gift card number can always be entered manually.
- Gift card balances can be used for full or partial payment.
