What is Dynamic Prep Time?
Dynamic Prep Time is a feature that automatically adjusts the preparation time based on the order's subtotal. The higher the subtotal, the more preparation time can be added, ensuring that larger orders receive appropriate preparation time. This feature helps manage large orders efficiently, prevents kitchen overload, and ensures that orders are prepared to the highest standard.
Dynamic Prep Time is available for Direct Ordering, DoorDash, UberEats, and Grubhub. This functionality allows restaurants to manage prep times seamlessly across different ordering platforms based on the order value.
Setting Up Dynamic Prep Time
Follow the steps below to set up Dynamic prep time for your location:
Dynamic Prep Time Configuration Matrix
The Dynamic Prep Time configuration matrix allows you to set additional preparation times based on order subtotals. The matrix automatically adjusts values to ensure consistency and prevent errors. This configuration works across Direct Ordering, DoorDash, UberEats, and Grubhub.
Understanding the Matrix
- Minimum Subtotal: This is the starting value for a range of order subtotals.
- For the First Row: It is static and always set to zero to cover all order values.
- For other Rows: It is generated automatically based on the “Maximum Subtotal” of the previous row.
- When a Minimum subtotal is edited, the previous maximum subtotal automatically adjusts to $0.01 lower. This ensures no overlaps or gaps between tiers, maintaining a consistent and logical range.
- Maximum Subtotal: This is the ending value for a range of order subtotals.
- For Last Row: It is always set to “no limit” to cover all order values.
- For Other Rows: It is generated automatically based on the “Minimum Subtotal” of the next row.
- When a maximum subtotal is edited, the next minimum subtotal automatically adjusts to be $0.01 higher. This ensures no overlaps or gaps between tiers, maintaining a consistent and logical range.
- Additional Prep Time (mins): The extra preparation time added for orders within the specified subtotal range. By default, it is set to "0," which means no additional prep time will be added. This behavior is consistent with Direct Ordering, DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. For DoorDash, UberEats, and Grubhub, the adjusted prep time is applied after the order is placed and sent to the platform.
- Action: Options to delete rows.
Color-Coded Values
The matrix uses different colored outlines to indicate the status of each value:
- Grey outline: Uneditable values, such as the default minimum or maximum subtotal for the first and last row.
- Normal outline (Black): Values that have been saved and are unchanged.
- Green Outline: Manually edited values that have not yet been saved.
- Blue Outline: Indicates that the cell is currently selected and being edited.
- Brown Outline: Automatically generated values based on the manual changes.
- Red Outline: Invalid entries that need correction, with error messages showing the valid range for the input.
Dynamic Prep Time for:
Direct Ordering
When placing orders, the delivery time is automatically updated based on the order value, informing the customer of delays due to larger order values.
Doordash, Grubhub and UberEats
For Doordash, Grubhub, and UberEats, the additional prep time is applied after the order is confirmed. The updated preparation time is sent back to the ordering platform. Once the order is placed successfully, the customer and delivery partner (if applicable) receive updated estimated times for pickup or delivery.
