The Online Ordering Logo
Direct Ordering lets each restaurant choose where the online ordering homepage logo (pictured below) redirects when a customer selects it.
Choosing Where the Logo Redirects
Two destinations are commonly selected. The reasons a restaurant might choose each one are described below.
Redirecting to the Direct Ordering Online Ordering Homepage
Goal: When the primary goal is to drive online orders, pointing the logo to the online ordering page keeps visitors within the platform where they can place orders.
- Promotions: Directing customers back to the online ordering homepage can increase the visibility of deals or promotions running within the Direct Ordering platform that may not appear on the restaurant's website.
- Navigation: This approach gives customers a consistent, clear path back to the starting point of the online ordering experience.
Redirecting to the Restaurant's Website
Goal: When the primary goal is building brand awareness and customer connection, redirecting to the company website lets customers explore brand history, values, and interactive experiences such as company blogs and social media channels.
- Exposure to other services: Direct Ordering offers a comprehensive suite of products. When a restaurant offers additional services, such as table reservations, the website can provide easy access for a customer who decides to dine in instead.
- Guest experience: The Direct Ordering workflow displays essential restaurant information such as locations, hours, and contact details. For a first-time guest, the restaurant's website may offer a fuller introduction before they place an order, with menu overviews, special announcements, and additional contact forms.
Editing the Logo URL
Follow these steps to set where the online ordering logo redirects:
- Log in to the Direct Ordering Admin Panel.
- Go to Settings, and in the User Experience section, select Website Configuration.
- Locate the following two fields:
- Checkmate Direct Ordering Site URL: Do not edit this field. To change the online ordering URL, see Finding the Online Ordering URL.
-
Primary Website URL: This field controls where the logo redirects.
- To redirect the logo to the homepage of the online ordering site, either leave this field blank or set it to match the Checkmate Direct Ordering Site URL field shown first on the page.
- To redirect the logo to the restaurant's website, enter that web address in this field.
- Select Submit to save the changes.
- Refresh the Direct Ordering online ordering website and select the logo to confirm it directs to the intended URL.
Note: Copy the restaurant's web address from an active browser so the HTTPS protocol is included. The field requires the HTTPS protocol to accept the entry.
