This document outlines the guidelines and requirements for qualifying a location for the Genius (formerly Heartland) Direct Sync (DS) integration. To ensure successful onboarding and accurate data transfer, all locations must adhere to the following stipulations concerning modifier configurations:
Included Ingredients / Default Modifiers
Default (pre-selected) modifiers must have a price of $0 explicitly set in the POS system.
Explanation: Checkmate’s integration does not support the recognition of default (pre-selected) modifiers as free within modifier groups. This ensures that items intended as included or pre-selected do not add any unexpected charges during the order process, maintaining accurate pricing from the point of sale.
Size-Based Modifier Pricing
Dynamic pricing within a single modifier group is not supported. Separate modifier groups must be created for each size, each with distinct pricing (e.g., “Toppings - Small”, “Toppings - Large”).
Explanation: Due to limitations in how pricing is synchronized, each size variation (e.g., small, medium, large) must exist as its own modifier group with its specific price clearly defined.
Shared Modifiers Across Items
Modifier IDs should not be reused where different pricing is needed. Unique modifiers and IDs must be created for each group or item requiring distinct pricing.
Explanation: To avoid price discrepancies, a modifier with a specific price for one item cannot be used for another item with a different price. Each unique price point requires a unique modifier ID.
Default Modifiers in Size-Based Modifier Groups
Default selections within size-based modifier groups are not supported. All size options should be configured without defaults.
Explanation: Allowing default selections in size-based modifier groups can lead to errors in order processing and pricing, as the intended size might not be accurately reflected. Requiring explicit selection ensures accuracy.
