Direct Ordering offers a fully branded mobile app for both iOS and Android.
The Direct Ordering app is built with React Native, so it works on both iOS and Android. It is also fully open-source, providing access to all the code. This allows a mobile developer to be hired for a more differentiated design, though a lot of customization is possible without a developer. The amount depends on the time and effort invested.
Setting Up an Apple Developer Account
Go to the Apple Developer site and click the Account option in the header. Sign in with an Apple ID, or create one, then sign up for the Apple Developer Program.
When signing up, select Organization, not Individual. This makes it easier to share access to the account with Direct Ordering and any other developers who help manage the app.
An Organization signup requires a D-U-N-S number from Apple. A D-U-N-S number can be obtained for free by following the prompts on the Apple Developer site. Obtaining a D-U-N-S number can take a few days, so it is best to start this process as early as possible.
Once the Apple Developer account is established, add the Direct Ordering developers using these contact details:
- First Name: DO
- Last Name: Dev
- Email: do.dev@itsacheckmate.com
-
Sign in to the account and click the Users and Access link under App Store Connect.
-
In the Users & Access section, click the plus icon.
-
In the dialog window, add the Direct Ordering email address as an Admin user with all boxes checked. Be sure to check the box next to Access to Cloud Managed Developer ID Certificate under Additional Resources, which is not checked by default.
- Click the Invite button, then notify the Direct Ordering team that the invitation has been sent.
Setting Up an Android Developer Account
Go to the Google Play Console to create an Android Developer account, and associate it with a Google account. Then invite the Direct Ordering developers from the Users & Permissions page using the blue Invite New Users button shown below. Use these contact details:
- Name: DO Dev
- Email: do.dev@itsacheckmate.com
Setting Up a Google Maps API Key for the Mobile App
A separate Google Maps API key is required for the mobile app. Go to Google Maps Platform Credentials.
Select a project, click the CREATE CREDENTIALS button at the top of the page, and choose API key from the dropdown.
The API key can be left unrestricted. Unlike on the web, an API key inside an app is very difficult for others to access.
Copy and paste the API key, then go to App Config > Settings > Google Maps in the Direct Ordering Admin Panel and paste the API key into the Google Maps API Key for Mobile App field.
