Please review and complete the checklist below to prepare your Upserve Point-of-Sale for syncing with your Ordering Platforms.
Menu Settings
Items
Enable Menu(s) to be Visible Online:
All menus that need to be included in the ordering platform menu(s) must be marked as available online for the location by doing the following:
Click on Settings → Online Ordering
Under the Checkmate section, click on Settings
Click on the Menu dropdown to select the desired menu and the default POS to be used for the integration purpose → click Submit.
Reconcile Menu items to have Unique Names:
Review the menu for items with the same name but different item IDs – Unique menu items must have unique names. If you are integrating more than one menu and there are duplicate items across multiple menus, please update the items to have unique names.
Remove/Adjust groups with Time-Based Display:
Checkmate’s integration does not support time-based displaying of particular menu groups.
If any groups in your online ordering menu have a Display Time set, you must remove the group or disable the Display Timing.
To verify whether you have Display Timing set for any group:
Go to Menus → Select the Online Ordering Menu set under the Checkmate Settings
Select Display Groups
Look for a clock icon next to any of the Display Groups (as shown below)
Either remove the Group from the menu OR remove the Display Timing from the group by selecting the ‘>’ next to the group → and selecting “Always show this display group under Display Timing” (as shown below) → Click Save
Add Menu Item Descriptions & Images:
To add menu item descriptions as you would like them to appear online:
Click on Menus →Click on Items →Search & Select an item
Scroll down to the Additional Options Section → Add/Edit description under Online Menu Description → Click Save
To add menu item images as you would like them to appear online:
This will be done in the Checkmate Portal once you can access it.
Modifiers
Reconcile Modifier names to have Unique Names:
If you must include the same name modifiers within a shared modifier group, differentiate between the same name modifiers by adding a punctuation mark or number in front of or after the modifier name
For Example: To differentiate between two modifiers with the name “Steak”, name the modifiers as the following:
Modifier 1: Steak Or 1. Steak
Modifier 2: Steak. Or 2. Steak. Or Add Steak
General Settings in POS Back End
Set custom Tenders (each ordering platform must have a unique custom tender set for it)
Go to General Settings → Tender Management → Select ‘+Add’ → Create a “Checkmate Online Order Integrated” Tender→
Once the tender has been created → go to the “Checkmate Online Order Integrated” Tender and add a tender account for each ordering platform you wish to integrate → Make sure to click Save
Removing Item(s) from the Online Menu
In Upserve, we can only pull one menu at a time, but we can tag a single item across multiple menus. If you want a specific item unavailable, you can directly delete it from the menu.
Note: Deleting an item from one menu will not impact its availability in other tagged menus. Item availability can also be managed from the Checkmate Portal.
Removing Modifier(s) from the Online Menu
In Upserve, if modifier(s) available within defined modifier groups are archived, then this action would result in the removal of that specific modifier(s) from all the menus wherever that specific modifier(s) has been tagged. Therefore, it is not at all advised to delete the modifier.
Note: If you wish to delete a modifier, you can either:
Manage the availability of the modifier directly from the Checkmate Portal.
Alternatively, Create a specific modifier group and tag the modifier within that in a particular menu being pulled. In this case, if that specific modifier is now deleted, then this action won’t affect its availability across other menus wherever it has been tagged.
Once you have completed these steps, please notify your Onboarding Specialist so we can complete the process and schedule the integration to go live as soon as possible.
